Slipping gears - If your transmission slips out of gear or seems to "pop" out of gear on its own, this is a sign that your clutch is not engaging properly. You may also notice a burning smell, similar to the smell of burning rubber, which indicates that your clutch is overheating. Clutch pedal feels different - If your clutch pedal feels spongy or soft, or if it engages higher up than usual, this could be a sign that your clutch is failing. You may also notice that your clutch pedal feels like it's vibrating or pulsing when you press it. Noises - If you hear strange noises coming from your transmission or clutch, such as grinding or rattling sounds, this could indicate a serious problem. It's important to get your vehicle inspected right away if you hear these types of noises. Walnut Creek Transmission is your go-to auto shop for all your transmission service needs. Our team of experienced technicians has been serving the Walnut Creek, CA community for many years, providing reliable and high-quality services. One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is, "How often should I have my transmission serviced?" The answer to this question is not a simple one, as the frequency of transmission service can vary depending on a few factors. First, it's important to understand what transmission service entails. Transmission service typically involves changing the transmission fluid and filter, inspecting the transmission for any signs of wear or damage, and making any necessary repairs or adjustments. Now, let's dive into the factors that can influence how often you should have your transmission serviced. Driving Habits: Your driving habits play a significant role in determining how often you should have your transmission serviced. If you frequently drive in stop-and-go traffic or tow heavy loads, your transmission is working harder than it would under normal driving conditions. As a result, you may need to have your transmission serviced more frequently to ensure optimal performance. Manufacturer Recommendations: Your vehicle's manufacturer will typically provide a recommended service schedule for the transmission. This schedule will vary depending on the make and model of your vehicle, as well as the type of transmission it has. Following the manufacturer's recommended service schedule is a good starting point for determining how often you should have your transmission serviced. Age and Mileage: As your vehicle ages and accumulates mileage, the transmission components can wear down and become less efficient. If your vehicle has high mileage, it's a good idea to have your transmission serviced more frequently to prevent any potential issues from arising. Signs of Transmission Problems: If you notice any signs of transmission problems, such as slipping gears or difficulty shifting, it's important to have your transmission serviced immediately. Ignoring these warning signs can lead to more significant transmission issues and costly repairs. In general, we recommend having your transmission serviced every 30,000-60,000 miles or every 2-4 years, whichever comes first. However, it's important to keep in mind the factors we've discussed above and adjust your service schedule accordingly. At Walnut Creek Transmission, we offer a variety of transmission services to keep your vehicle running smoothly. From fluid and filter changes to complete transmission rebuilds, our team has the expertise to handle any transmission issue you may be experiencing. If you're unsure when your vehicle's transmission was last serviced, or if you're experiencing any signs of transmission problems, don't hesitate to give us a call. Our team is always here to help and ensure that your vehicle is running at its best.

As a car owner, it is essential to know when something is wrong with your transmission. The transmission is one of the most critical parts of a car, and when it malfunctions, it can lead to significant problems that can be costly to fix. At Walnut Creek Transmission in Walnut Creek, CA, we understand the importance of transmission maintenance and repair. In this blog post, we will provide you with information on how to tell when something is wrong with your transmission. 1. Strange Sounds One of the most common signs that something is wrong with your transmission is strange sounds. If you hear a grinding or whining noise when you shift gears, it could be a sign of a problem. Additionally, if you hear a clunking sound when you shift gears or when you put your car into drive, it could be a sign of a damaged or worn-out transmission. 2. Delayed Engagement If your transmission takes a while to engage after you shift into drive or reverse, it could be a sign of a problem. Delayed engagement can be caused by a low transmission fluid level or worn-out transmission parts. 3. Leaking Fluid If you notice a red fluid under your car, it could be a sign that your transmission is leaking fluid. Transmission fluid is essential for lubricating the transmission's moving parts, and if it leaks out, it can cause significant damage. 4. Slipping Gears If you notice that your car is slipping out of gear or the gears are slipping while driving, it could be a sign of a worn-out or damaged transmission. Slipping gears can be dangerous and should be addressed immediately. 5. Burning Smell If you smell something burning while driving, it could be a sign of an overheating transmission. Overheating can cause significant damage to the transmission and should be addressed immediately. 6. Warning Lights Modern cars are equipped with warning lights to alert the driver when something is wrong. If you see the "check engine" or "transmission" warning light come on, it could be a sign of a problem with your transmission. In conclusion, there are several signs that your transmission needs attention. If you notice any of the signs mentioned above, it is important to take your car to a trusted auto shop for diagnosis and repair. At Walnut Creek Transmission in Walnut Creek, CA, we have the expertise to diagnose and repair transmission problems. Contact us today for all your transmission needs.
